Shredded tire waste is currently being used as a play surface on 47 elementary playgrounds in the MPS school district. Chemicals detected in shredded tire material include carcinogens, neruotoxins, respiratory/eye/skin irritants and reproductive and developmental toxins.
Please Join the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council Environment Committee and Play It Safe Minneapolis for an Education and Action Session advocating for the removal and replacement of shredded waste tires and crumb rubber on playgrounds.
Join us to learn:
- What shredded tire waste is, why it is being used on playgrounds, and why it is a problem.
- How to help protect your kids.
- Safe alternatives.
- The most effective way to advocate for change.
Please see the LiHNC website for more resources and information, including how to RSVP for this event. The website can be found at https://lindenhills.org/
